About the Speaker
Arlene McCarthy PT, DPT, MS, NCS, is a licensed physical therapist who is board certified as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist with over 30 years of clinical experience. She is currently the director of the Kaiser Permanente Neurological Residency for physical therapists and also teaches part- time in the UCSF/SFSU Physical Therapy program in San Francisco, CA. As a member of Neurology Section she served on the Neurologic Specialty Council and the Neurology Section Program Committee. She is currently a site reviewer for developing residencies for the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education. Her clinical expertise is in the area of Stroke and TBI and she frequently mentors physical therapists so they can develop and enhance their clinical skills in neurologic physical therapy. She has worked extensively with therapists within Kaiser Permanente to develop mentoring skills and has presented on the topic of Mentoring. Dr. McCarthy also has an interest in technology and rehabilitation and has served as a consultant to rehabilitation device companies. Dr. McCarthy received the PT Excellence Award in 2008. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association
